History of Mac and Cheese, the food of the "GODS", well maybe that is going a little over the top.

History of Macaroni and Cheese,

Macaroni and cheese has a history in the United States dating back to 1802 when our 3rd President Thomas Jefferson, first served the dish in the White House. Before coming to America, macaroni & cheese was an English dish described as macaroni baked with cream and cheese.

Macaroni and Cheese Has an Interesting History and a Patriotic Past

It’s great as a side dish, and serves well as a light dinner or a satisfying lunch. It’s a food that kids from 2 through 102 can sink their gums or teeth into. Besides having a high likeability factor, this comfort food and American staple has an interesting history that reveals a patriotic past.

It is said that macaroni, a curved, tubular pasta made from flour that had its origins in China and was brought to Italy by Marco Polo, has been cooked and served with cheese in Italian homes, inns and restaurants for over 500 years. By the eighteenth century, the dish, in one form or another, had become popular throughout Europe, and colonists from England brought along their appetite and recipes for this cheesy treat to North America. In the 1800s, recipes for various versions of macaroni and cheese appeared in many American cookbooks. And so, a legend was born.

As times changed and women began to look for life beyond the confines of the kitchen, convenience foods were introduced into the marketplace. Since macaroni and cheese had already achieved status as a family favorite, Kraft decided the time was right to introduce a dinner in a box and called it Kraft Dinner. In 1937, Kraft macaroni and cheese hit the grocery shelves in the U.S. and Canada, and soon it became a huge success.

The product got a big boost with the start of World War II. As part of the war effort on the home front, rationing went into effect. Meat was at a premium. Fresh milk and dairy products were in short supply. And since millions of men were away from home and serving in the armed forces, many women joined the workforce. After a hard day or night at work, the Rosie the Riveters really appreciated the ease and speed of a ready-to-prepare macaroni and cheese dinner. The fact that it had the reputation for being a nutritious alternative to a meat dish also helped in making it a best seller.

Since then, dozens of variations of this iconic dish have been created. But the basic macaroni and
cheese attraction still prevails.

What is, Phenylpropanolamine?

Here is a story, that may save your life it was passed down to me, so I can't say for sure that this true, nor can I say its not true, my basic blief is that we all have to be careful about what we put into our bodies. After all if its not's part of the basic foods groups, or the name of the product is so big, and we probably couldnt spell it off the top of our head, can it really be that safe?
....... remember KISS......... Keep It Simple, (and in this case) Safe........

Phenylpropanolamine, what is it?

I received this information from a friend whose mother recently passed away. Apparently, this was caused by a medication that is deadly. Here are the details, and I suggest you pass it on to your loved ones and others .

I would like to thank those of you who expressed condolences on the recent passing of my mother. She suffered a hemorrhagic stroke while she was driving home from my house on July 30th and passed away on August 3rd. My mother's stroke and passing was an enormous shock to my family, because she did not have any symptoms or risk factors for a stroke. Just the week before she had gone to her doctor for a check up and received a clean bill of health. She did, however, develop a cold while she was visiting me and had taken Alka Seltzer Cold Plus for 3 days.

Since her passing, we have learned that Alka Seltzer is one of the many cold medicines that contains Phenylpropanolamine (PPA), which can cause hemorrhagic stokes or cerebral bleeding, even with the first use. I am forwarding a list of other medications that currently usePPA.. These medicines are supposedly being recalled but my mother just purchased this medication less than two weeks ago. Pharmaceutical com panies have known about this danger for years, we unfortunately, did not.I urge you to review the list of medicines with PPA and avoid these medications. All drugs containing PHENYLPROPANOLAMINE are dangerous. You may want to try calling the 800 number listed on most drug boxes and inquire about a REFUND. Please read this CAREFULLY. Also, please pass this on to everyone you know.

STOP TAKING anything containing this ingredient. It has been linked to increased hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding in brain) among women ages 18-49 in the three days after starting use of the medication. Problems were not found in men, but the FDA recommended that everyone (even children) seek alternative medicine. The following medications contain Phenylpropanolamine/
1. Acutrim Diet Gum Appetite Suppressant
2. Acutrim Plus Dietary Supplements
3 Acutrim Maximum Strength Appetite Control
4. Alka-Seltzer Plus Children's Cold Medicine Effervescent

I just found out and called the 800# on the container for Triaminic and they informed me that they are voluntarily recalling the followingmedicines because of a certain ingredient that is causing strokes andseizures in children:
1. Orange 3D Cold & Allergy Cherry (Pink)

They are asking you to call them at 800-548-3708 with the lot number on the box so they can send you postage for you to send it back to them, and they will also issue you a refund. If you know of anyone else with small children, PLEASE PASS THIS ON. ; THIS IS SERIOUS STUFF!

Illegal Immigrats

To put up a fence or not?
It always amazes me that the people who says a fence wont work, we have to get after the employers, its the governments failed problem. Its too much work, bluh, bluh, bluh.
These same people are the ones who go home, to their gated communities, lock their doors, and use some kind of alarm system to protect their homes.
I am not against immigration, I am opposed to illegal immigration though. I live in America, and my home is beautiful and wonderful, and there always seems to be room for a few more guest, who I have opened the door for, and welcomed in. The last thing I want is to go home and find out the somebody has broken into my house and have taken the things I have worked and fought for, then being called a bad guy, if I don't do what the un-wanted guest expects me to do.
Those who cry foul, and say we have to let them all in, are stupid! Since when does the person breaking into your home have more rights than the one who have worked hard to build their home. Don't believe me then think back it wasn't very long ago when a man was breaking into another mans home, going through his daughter's window in the middle of the night. Home owner shot the the intruder, and guess who went to jail? The home owner trying to protect his family.
Just a few weeks ago a illegal immigrant killed a actress, in New York. In Texas a illegal immigrant shot and killed a deputy sheriff. Every day its another story about a illegal immigrant who are coming into our home "America" taking our propriety, killing our American family members. Using our services, taking our money, and our benefits. Its time for America to protect its home again. Thank God for the Minute-Men efforts, Thank God for those who are taking a stand to protect our home.
Now A solution, its true a fence may not keep everybody out, but its is a start. A better start would be a wall, a 20 foot wall, stretching as far as possible. They use walls up against the freeways, they use concrete walls for the dams across America. It seem where ever there is a wall, it does a pretty good job. Where a wall is not viable, there is electronic methods avail, the border patrol, and the minute men can fill in the gaps.
So that helps stop some of the flooding of illegal immigration. Now for the those illegal immigrants all ready here, give them a time line to get back where there home country.
First step/ turn your self in, with no penalty. when the person does this they get a free ticket to there home country supervised all the way across the border. This first step is avail only for the first 24 months of the program.
Second step/if the illegal immigrant is here beyond the 24 months, they get automatic 2yr prison sentence. After they serve the time the are still deported, and denied the chance to get apply for a visa for yet another 2yrs.
Third step/ Employers, are given the tools need to to comply with the law. That being a quick way to check a applicant's legal status. Once the employer has this stamp of approval from the government saying "OK to hire", he is no longer legally accountable for that employee (kind-of a get out of jail free card). However if the employer ignores this step and hires a illegal immigrant, then that employer has now fined $15,000 for each illegal immigrant in his employ.
Forth Step/ If A illegal immigrant is responsible for the death of a American citizen, its a automatic life sentence in a federal prison. Any other crime that a illegal immigrant is involved in its a automatic Felony, with a min. sentence of 5yrs added to the normal sentence.
Will this solve all the problems no, but its a start with real sentence's for those who would break into your home, and take what is rightfully yours. America is my home, we have room for guest here, but the way to come into my home is through the front door that I would open for you, not through my window in the dark of the night.
Lastly, remember Sept. 11th some the terrorist who hit us were illegal immigrants!

A Brief History of the Trucking Business

'The Trucking History

The first truck to travel from coast-to-coast was a Sauger, a Swiss built truck which traveled from Los Angeles to New York in 1911. In 1916 the Seattle chamber of commerce paid the expense for a truck to drive from Seattle to NYC. It took 31 days of driving time.

In the 1920's the fifth wheel came along. In 1920 the semitrailer, whose front end rests on the rear portion of the hauling truck tractor, was gaining in popularity. In a semitrailer the truck tractor usually has a disk, known as the fifth wheel, located on a horizontal platform over its rear wheels; a pin located under the front of the trailer locks into this disk, thus attaching the trailer to the tractor and furnishing support for the front end of the trailer.

1935 Motor Carrier Act brought trucking under federal regulations.
The Federal Government spent $75 million on construction & improvement of roads. Logbook rules, the same ones in force today, were developed in the late 1930's. There was less than 15,000 miles of paved highways in the U.S. in 1914. In the 1930's, the number of new trucks registered in the U.S. totaled some 329,000. In 1966, the DOT was created by an act of Congress. The DOT became responsible for safety issues.

In the early 1800's the gasoline engine was invented, it was followed by the first gasoline powered trucks. These trucks did not have any windshields, doors, or roofs, drivers had no protection from the elements. The top speed on these trucks were a whopping 20 mph. These early trucks had a tiller bar instead of a steering wheel. Also, oil lamps were used for night driving instead of headlights.

In the 1950s, diesel fuel cost 14.9 cents per gallon. Conventional trucks in the 1950's sported a hole in the wall to climb in to the unheated bunk, which was nothing more than a shelf on the wall.In the 1950's, refrigerated trailers ran on propane.Trailer lengths started out at 33 feet, gradually increasing through the years.

In the early 1900s, trucks were limited for two reasons, first there weren't very many paved roads, and second, the trucks used solid rubber tires. This type of tire could be used only at low speeds. A feature developed around the time of WW1 that helped the trucking industry. This was the invention of the pneumatic (air inflated) tire. By 1920 this new tire became more and more popular. With the air inflated tire there was much less wear and tear on vehicles, so higher speeds were possible. The driver had a more comfortable ride.

During WWI trucks became more widespread, when manufactures produced 227,250 trucks to help transport goods for the war effort. Trucking companies such as Michigan Motor Freight, Yellow Freight, and Interstate Motor Freight got their start during this time.
In 1939 Al Gross, founder of the CB, invents the first walkie talky. In 1943 he made the first CB radio. Also in 1943 he began founding the Citizens Band Corporation. In 1958 the FCC introduced the first 23 channels of the Citizen Band. In 1962 Midland CB Radios introduced into the public market the first CB radio. By 1966 Midland had introduced 21 different mobile CB transceivers. During the early 70’s the oil embargo and the truck strikes pressed the need for the drivers to communicate to the home base and the company that he/she was working for.

In 1977 the FCC introduced an addition 17 channels to make the current 40 channels that are available today. Also, in 1977 the FCC discontinued the license that was needed to operate a CB station. A license is not needed as long as you operate and follow the rules and regulations of the FCC.

The first tilt-cab, or cab-over, truck was built in 1935.During 1910, production of trucks in the U.S. amounted to about 10,000. In 1916 the Seattle chamber of commerce paid the expense for a truck to drive from Seattle, Washington, to New York City. It took 31 days of actual driving. This trip across country showed people that highways and trucks were going to become an important part of our lives.

Rudolf Diesel had patented the diesel engine in 1892. The first tractors powered by diesel engines were built in the early 1930s. In 1912, a Packard truck went from New York to San Francisco in 46 days. This was the year that trucks were first equipped with electric lights. The first commercial vehicle was made in 1899. It was powered by a steam engine.

A Story of Forgiveness, and a mothers love for the kids who weren't always so good

This blog is from my sister, and in case your were wandering, yes I was the one that was growing those cool plants in my closest. You can believe me our Mom didnt think they were to cool, and at the time I certainly didn't my sister was very cool for ratting me out. (That might have been about the time I tied her to the tree in the yard and left her to get out, on her own.)
But more all that I think its a message that I needed to hear, and maybe we all could benfit from this story, I think it more or less a story of forgiving, and moving on. Something I will have to learn.

parents -vs- kids ... does anyone really win...?
Current mood: cranky

Ok so we all had parents along our life road weather they are still with you or not is kinda what I am talking about. see I have yet to met a perfect parent or kid, we all make mistakes and we are suppose to come out of if and learn something. OK not everyone does learn something right away but hopefully eventually they will learn something. the way I parent I hope some how reflects on how I was raised, cuz even tho i may not have always like what my mom said or did when I was growing up I turned out OK and so that means she did a good job. ( she did a GREAT job actually)
.
OK I grew up with my mom and 3 brothers, until I was 9 and my mom married my dad. I was the youngest and maybe I didn't see the whole picture all the time I did get the jest of what was going on. like when my brother was growing really cool plants in his closet... I even told my mom about them so she could make sure they got watered when she was watering the other household plants... lol or when one of the boys got caught stealing and got put in jail, they skipped school, lied, back talked, drank and tried drugs like alot of kids were doing I am sure. What did she do... she got mad probable even hurt and punished the boys but then you know what she moved on she never held it over them. now me being the youngest and the only girl I was innocent all the time... lol NOT i skipped school, got drunk, back talked ALOT even moved out when she was gonna ground me and I know that of all the things I did that broke her heart. but you know she still loved me.. she never belittled me, humiliated me no she just went on being my mom and loving me with all she had. does that mean she forgot all I did or that the boys did.. I am sure not. but the next day was a new day and we went on with life.
.
So you might be asking yourself so why is she writing all this who really cares. well I know that there are parents out there that can't seem to get over things/mistakes there kids do and they hold it over them and it hurts me to know this. OK I am a parent and have been one for 17 years to not only my kids but to many others along the way too. My kids are FAR from perfect, shoot just recently my daughter was such a crank that she almost didn't get a 15th birthday, my son who I have always told people when they look at him and his individuality and wondered why I would let him either pierce something or color his hair that way or even dress like that i always said " well as long as he is not into drug, alcohol or getting a girl pregnant then that is good" well guess what in the last year he did ALL of those. but he is my kid he is my son I love him. all those things upset me, even pissed me off, they hurt but I will still be his mom and love him no matter what he has even called me names that my mother would have died if I called her it. But he deep down loves me and I know that, so he gets punished and we move on with life.
.
So how can you write your kids off...?or your parents..? your brother, sister, aunt, uncle, any of them they are family they are not perfect you are not perfect and we all make mistakes. Get over it and get on with life. Life is too short to be angry all the time at others. What would you do if you were so mad at someone that you were not gonna talk with them and they something happened and they died.. omg that would hurt, I cant imagine it.
.
I have people that have hurt me and some that hurt me bad I can't go through my whole life hating them. I deal with it in my way and then i have to forgive that person. some I still talk with some still can't seem to forgive me but i know that i did what i could to make the situation better. .
OK so why are you still reading this i am just rattling.... lol why I am still writing I just want you all to know that life it too short to hold grudges... get over it I am sure you have made mistakes . ohhh if by some chance you read this and I am wrong and you ARE perfect please please let me know who you are....
love you all :)

The most functional word in the English Language

THE MOST FUNCTIONAL ENGLISH WORD
is
SHIT

That's right, shit! Shit may just be the most functional word in the English language. Consider: You can get shit-faced, Be shit-out-of-luck, Or have shit for brains.

With a little effort, you can get your shit together, find a place for your shit, or be asked to shit or get off the pot.

You can smoke shit, buy shit, sell shit, lose shit, find shit, forget shit, and tell others to eat shit.

Some people know their shit, while others can't tell the difference between shit and shineola.

There are lucky shits, dumb shits, and crazy shits.

There is bull-shit, horse-shit, bat-shit, and of course chicken-shit.

Maybe you think you are the shit, and dont think your shit smells.

You can throw shit, sling shit, catch shit, shoot the shit, or duck when the shit hits the fan.

You can give a shit or serve shit on a shingle. You can find yourself in deep shit or be happier than a pig in shit.

Some days are colder than shit, some days are hotter than shit, and some days are just plain shitty.

Some music sounds like shit, things can look like shit, and there are times when you feel like shit.

You can have too much shit, not enough shit, the right shit, the wrong shit or a lot of weird shit.

You can carry shit, have a pile of shit, have a mountain of shit, or find yourself up shit creek without a paddle.

Sometimes everything you touch turns to shit and other times you fall in a bucket of shit and come out smelling like a rose.

You can even get the shit beat out of you.

When you stop to consider all the facts, it's the basic building block of the English language. And remember, once you know your shit, you don't need to know anything else!!

You could pass this along, if you give a shit; or not do so if you don't give a shit! Well, Shit, it's time for me to go.

Just wanted you to know that I do give a shit and hope you had a nice day, without a bunch of shit.

But if you happened to catch a load of shit, from some shit-head........... Well, Shit Happens!!!

Seven Kinds of SEX

Results of a recent research shows that there are 7 kinds of sex.

The 1st kind of sex is called: Smurf Sex.
This kind of sex happens when you first meet someone, and you both have sex until you are blue in the face.

The 2nd kind of sex is called: Kitchen Sex.
This is when you have been with your partner for a short time, and you are so needy you will have sex anywhere, even in the kitchen.

The 3rd kind of sex is called: Bedroom Sex.
This is when you have been with your partner for a long time. Your sex has gotten routine, and you usually have sex only in your bedroom.

The 4th kind of sex is called: Hallway Sex
This is when you have been with your partner for too long. When you pass each other in the hallway you both say 'screw you.'

The 5th kind of sex is called: Religious Sex.
Which means you get Nun in the morning, Nun in the afternoon and Nun at night. (Very Popular)

The 6th kind is called: Courtroom Sex.
This is when you cannot stand your wife/husband any more. She/he takes you to court and screws you in front of everyone.

And; Last, but not least,
The 7th kind of sex is called: Social Security Sex.
You get a little each month. But its not enough to enjoy yourself

How To Spot A Lair

How to Spot a Liar in Four Easy Steps
by Michael Lovitch

I have been doing some interesting reading, and I thought I would share with you some interesting information on how to spot a liar. This should be a useful tool over this holiday weekend. Busting the relatives is always a fun deal. Was uncle Harvey really a war hero? Did daddy really enjoy going to your brother’s piano recitals?

First, let’s dispel some myths.
How many of you believe that if someone crosses their arms or has a closed posture that this means they are lying? What about excess blinking? What about excessive touching of the face?
What about increased blood flow to the face? Or incongruities between body language and speech content? Is someone lying to you when they can’t look you in eye?

What about the NLP fans who believe that someone is lying if they look to the right?
These are just a sample of “indicators” I was able to come up with just by browsing the net.
Well, I am sorry to say that they are all misguided (in other words they are flat wrong).
So, is it impossible to tell if someone is lying to you? According to the research, it really is impossible if you are focusing on visual cues. Looking for visual cues, it turns out, is absolutely the most unreliable way to spot a liar. This was demonstrated by research done across the globe by a psychologist from TCU, Dr. Charles Bond. Turns out that it was the myths above that actually prevented subjects from spotting a lie.*

However, there is hope. It turns out the best way to spot a lie is to use your ears.
It is all about what a person says and how they say it.** In fact, it has been demonstrated by Richard Wiseman Ph.D. (a pretty famous researcher and author of a book you simply have to read “Quirkology”) that people without deception training are much better at detecting deception when listening to a tape recording of a liar than when watching a video. So even without training, your unconscious mind is able to do a half way decent job of detecting a lie if you don’t focus on visual cues. However, with training, your odds are going to go way up.

Here are the four easy ways to spot a lie:***

1. Liars tend to say less. The more someone says, the more likely it is that some of those words are going to haunt them. Lies will have far less detail (in other words, they will be more general).
2. Liars also tend to distance themselves from their lies. They will include fewer references to themselves and won’t use a lot of words indicating feelings. The use of the word, “I” will be less prevalent.
3. Liars never forget. For some reason liars forget that most people forget things so they will never admit they don’t remember a certain aspect of their story. Somehow the lie creates a super human memory - which of course they are inventing.
4. A person will also have more pauses and hesitation when they are lying. It takes energy and thought to lie, this leads to little “thinking” pauses.

A disclaimer, BE CAREFUL! Nothing is perfect, these just make it far more likely that you can spot a lie. So please - no family feuds over this stuff!
I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday… Really.

Gratitude Is Empowering

This post is from Ricky Kalmon, after reading it myself I felt as if it should be shared with all, so here it is, enjoy it, but more importantly take it to heart.

Gratitude Is Empowering
All too often, we take for things in our life for granted. We forget to be thankful for the people in our lives and the everyday blessings which surround us. We all have something to be grateful for, and it's the expression of gratitude which brings the greatest rewards. Being grateful for even the smallest things empowers our subconscious to appreciate those things and place importance on them. By being thankful for these things, our perception changes and new opportunities reveal themselves in our lives.
"Gratitude unlocks the fullness of life. It turns what we have into enough, and more. It turns denial into acceptance, chaos into order, confusion into clarity.... It turns problems into gifts, failures into success, the unexpected into perfect timing, and mistakes into important events. Gratitude makes sense of our past, brings peace for today and creates a vision for tomorrow."-- Melodie Beattie
Makeover Question:
When was the last time you consciously expressed gratitude for the blessings in your life?
Subconscious Makeover™ Tip
Taking a moment to be thankful for the things and people in our life helps us view our world from a different perspective. Rather than being discouraged by what we don't have, we learn to find joy and blessings in the things we do have. Free yourself from the limitations of negativity and open yourself up to the positive benefits gained from an attitude of gratitude. Everyone has something to be grateful for, a home, a job, a loved one, a friend, the beauty of our surroundings or even the opportunity to experience one more day. Make a list of the things you are grateful for and consciously show appreciation for those things. As you do, your subconscious will work to give you more of those things. An added benefit is that when you are grateful for the good things in your life, your problems become less significant.
"The hardest arithmetic to master is that which enables us to count our blessings."--Eric Hoffer
Your thoughts create your reality. Don't invest your emotions on things you don't like--invest your emotions and thoughts on the things which you appreciate and want to expand in your life. When you do, your problems become less significant and your joys become more frequent. That is one of the keys to achieving happiness. Gratitude plays a major role in that achievement.
